SICA, BCCA and industry partners have signed onto a letter to the Honorable Anne Kang – Minister of Advanced Education and Skills Training, the Honorable Harry Bains – Minister of Labour and Mr. Andrew Mercier, MLA – Parliamentary Secretary for Skills Training asking for broader consultation with industry when discussing the restoration of compulsory trades in BC.

WorkSafeBC has rescheduled the public hearing on proposed amendments to Parts 6, 8, 16, 18, and 21 of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation to December 10, 2020. In light of the ongoing and rapidly evolving COVID-19 pandemic, and in an effort to maximize physical distancing, the public hearing will be held virtually.
On November 3, 2020 SICA representatives met with Members of Parliament Dan Albas and Tracy Gray as part of the Canadian Construction Association's (CCA) Hill Day. Hill Day was conducted virtually this year, parliamentarians from the House of Commons and Senate were connected to Associations to elevate issues of national importance to the construction industry.
On November 30, 2018, the province will be counting ballots in order to decide the voting system BC will use for future elections. Through our research, SICA has concluded that the current "First Past the Post" system provides for more stability.
