CCA Hill Day 2023

The CEO of the Southern Interior Construction Association, accompanied by 100 industry leaders, advocates at Parliament Hill for federal government collaboration to spur economic growth.

In line with this commitment, our CEO, Cliff Kshyk played an active role in CCA Hill Day 2023, joining construction leaders at Parliament Hill, representing each province, and standing in solidarity. Together, they conveyed a unified message to the federal government, stressing the importance of collaboration with the construction industry to establish a robust foundation for Canada. The primary call was to commit to comprehensive infrastructure investment, address workforce shortages through immigration reform, and modernize procurement processes.

This photo captures SICA, alongside local government and industry representatives from across Canada, participating in the Canadian Construction Association National Advisory Council meetings. A hundred construction industry representatives convened in Ottawa in November for meetings with 74 Members of Parliament, providing a platform to discuss the challenges facing the construction industry in Canada.

Against the backdrop of concerns about inflation, the housing crisis, and the high cost of living, Canadians are turning to their government for solutions. Construction emerges as the ideal partner to drive economic growth for Canada while simultaneously addressing the pressing needs for housing and infrastructure.

The Southern Interior Construction Association strongly urges the federal government to actively engage in collaboration with the construction industry, advocating for policy changes that can unlock the full potential of this economic powerhouse.

It’s no exaggeration to say the global economy has been paralyzed by the pandemic. Fortunately for many Canadians, the construction industry was one of the few beacons in an otherwise slow economy greatly inhibited by COVID-19.
