Thank you for taking part in Kamloops Trap & Skeet 2022

Another successful Kamloops Trap & Skeet Event has gone off with a bang! We had cooler weather than usual, but the rain held off until the shooting was complete, and the steaks cooked. It was great to reconnect face-to-face with everyone and see old-timers return and newcomers join us, including our newest members in the Kamloops region: PME Inc.

Inland Glass & Aluminum for Best Shot: Urban Systems carried this category with Jarret Grant as the Men’s winner and Brenda Fransson as Women’s winner. Nice to have the Fransson’s back after ten years out of province! 

Acres Enterprises for Runner-Up: Paul Barnes of Next Gen Electric took Men’s Runner-Up after a shoot-out with Matt Fransson, and Acres’ own Dayna Goochey scored Women’s Runner-Up. 

Congratulations to our winners! SICA would like to thank everyone who came out on Thursday, June 23, as well as the fabulous volunteers from the Kamloops Shotgun Sports Club who provided excellent instruction and a special fun station that was a huge success; and we can’t forget the volunteers from the Kamloops Paddlewheelers Lions Club who prepared the food for us this year. You all helped make this another great year, we look forward to seeing even more members next year!

Through the Southern Interior Construction Association (SICA) Fund and in partnership with the Construction Foundation of BC, SICA is organizing the Kelowna Crane Incident Legacy Education Fund. This fund is a tribute to the individuals who tragically lost their lives from the Brooklyn Site Incident on July 12th, 2021. The funds raised through this fund will go towards supporting future post-secondary education for the children of the victims in this tragedy.

It’s no exaggeration to say the global economy has been paralyzed by the pandemic. Fortunately for many Canadians, the construction industry was one of the few beacons in an otherwise slow economy greatly inhibited by COVID-19. Of course, the many forms of construction activity couldn’t forge ahead frivolously – social distancing, rigorous cleaning protocols and an abundance of caution were the norm on work sites everywhere, and it’s clear these methods will continue in the months ahead.
