Are you interested in becoming an electrical foreperson but don’t know what is required? Are you looking to hone your skills? Become more efficient with your time management and planning? Do you get anxious when faced with the additional responsibility of running a project? If so...this course is for you.

This 1-day course was developed to help you understand the role and responsibilities of an electrical foreperson. We will delve into the foundational skills a successful foreperson will need to manage any project. The various skills and knowledge-sets will be broken down into their simplest components. When this information is combined with your growing skills and experience, you will be able to decrease the stress and anxiety of laying-out and running a project as a foreperson. You will be of greater value to yourself, your company and the industry..

  • Schedules
  • Drawings
  • Lay-out of work for your workers
  • Managing the crew
  • Worker’s capabilities
  • Requests for information
  • Quality control

There will be plenty of real-world examples and open discussion on the various topics.  Bring your questions and openness to learn. This is the next step in evolving your electrical career and opening the potential for greater possibilities.

Workshop Format:

  • Live, Online, Instructor-led training
  • This is an interactive course facilitated via the Zoom platform. 
  • Please make sure you secure a quiet space with minimal distractions 
  • Group attendance via one paid registration is NOT permitted. 
  • Full attendance and participation in both sessions is mandatory for course completion.  

Course Requirements (Technology & Participation)

  • This workshop will involve 100% on-screen interaction with the instructor and classmates, reading/viewing on-screen content like slides or videos, and interacting via typing with questions or responses.
  • Login information will be provided to you in advance for both the orientation and workshop by your facilitator.
  • ​Computer/Laptop mandatory: Attendees are not permitted to attend via a tablet or cell phone.
  • ​Webcams are mandatory and are expected to be turned on during all course sessions.
  • ​​Virtual backgrounds are not permitted.

Course Instructor Information

Dan Campbell, RSE, FSR-B, - Estimator, Project Manager GSC

Dan has 32 years of electrical experience and has spent the past ten years as a Project Manager. He has worked on housing developments, civil infrastructure upgrades, wineries, malls, schools, care homes, hospitals, water and sewer pump stations and treatment facilities, and single family homes. Currently Dan is enjoying his tenure as an electrical instructor at Okanagan College.
