Participants will learn skills and knowledge to estimate construction projects and prepare a successful bid.

Course Content:

• Analyze projects and decide on which ones to bid
• Understand risk analysis and how to price this into a bid
• Do competitor analysis and understand how this impacts the bid
• Do client risk analysis and how to price this into bids
• Record material and other prices and maintain contact lists
• Formulate a bid strategy
• Understand how to prepare an estimate and the estimating process
• Become familiar with Construction Division Codes
• Understand how to present a bid
• Be familiar with how to use the bid depository and online bidding platforms
• Understand the requirements for bonding and insurance
• Understand the post-bidding process
• Work with project managers to pass on knowledge of the bid

Audience:

This course is designed for construction estimators and those with experience in construction that desire to be estimators or improve their knowledge of estimating.

Course Format and Dates:

Live, Online, Instructor-led training delivered over four 1/2-day sessions to cover the same content as the in-person workshop.  

1. March 25, 2025 - 8:30am to 12:30pm 
2. March 26, 2025 - 8:30am to 12:30pm 
3. March 27, 2025 - 8:30am to 12:30pm 
4. March 28, 2025 - 8:30am to 12:30pm

Please note the following:  

1. You will receive an email with easy-to-follow instructions on how to join the virtual classroom 48 hours prior to the course date.
2.  Your course manual and handouts will also be emailed to you in a PDF format.  It is recommended that you print the handouts as these will be the exercises to be completed in class. You may also want to print the manual to follow along if you do not have a second screen.
3. All students are encouraged to use the chat function to ask questions, as well as speaker and microphone during open session discussions.
